16. Vampire Bat Swarm Mirror
Create an striking visual illusion on an accent wall or above your mantel with a vampire bat swarm mirror. Choose a large, circular or oval mirror with a simple frame. Cut out dozens of small, silhouette bats from black vinyl or cardstock. Arrange them so they appear to be erupting from one corner of the mirror, spilling out across the glass, and flying up and away onto the surrounding wall. By placing the bats both on the glass and the wall, you break the boundary of the mirror’s frame, creating a dynamic, three-dimensional effect that looks as though a colony of bats is actively escaping from a portal within the mirror itself.
