5. Trendmasters Light-Up Foam Halloween Jack-O’-Lanterns
As the 80s transitioned into the early 90s, Trendmasters introduced a revolutionary material to the Halloween market: dense, carved foam. These light-up foam pumpkins, often referred to as “foamkins,” offered a highly detailed alternative to traditional plastic blow molds. They featured intricate, expressive faces that looked hand-carved, complete with faux-pulp textures inside the eyes and mouth. Illuminated by internal bulbs, these foam decorations were incredibly lightweight, weather-resistant, and came in various shapes, from tall, elongated gourds to classic fat pumpkins, defining late-80s indoor decor.
