20. Light-Up Window Silhouette Sculptures

To make houses look festive from the street, 1980s manufacturers created lightweight plastic window silhouettes. These consisted of a black plastic frame shaped like a cat, witch, or pumpkin, lined with dozens of miniature, colorful incandescent light bulbs. When hung in a window, the bright purple, green, and orange lights created a glowing, recognizable silhouette that could be seen from blocks away. They were the perfect way to add a vibrant, electric pop of 80s color to the dark autumn night.
