Floating Cheesecloth Specters
Create the ethereal, chilling presence of spirits floating through your living room with delicate cheesecloth specters. This classic DIY project uses inexpensive cheesecloth, fabric stiffener, and a simple mold—such as a balloon or a foam ball supported by wire—to shape the ghosts. Thoroughly saturate the cheesecloth in fabric stiffener, drape it over your mold, and manipulate the fabric to create flowing, tattered robes that drape elegantly to the ground. Once dry, the cheesecloth hardens into a rigid, self-supporting, yet semi-translucent structure. Remove the mold, suspend the hollow specters from your ceiling using thin fishing line, and place a small, battery-operated cool-white LED light underneath each one to make them glow from within like true apparitions.
