17. Gothic Cathedral Rose Window Alcove
For truly grand structures like cathedrals, ancient libraries, or royal castles, a standard bay window simply won’t suffice. The Gothic Cathedral Rose Window Alcove scales up the traditional window seat into a breathtaking monumental feature. Extruded from a massive stone wall using deepslate tiles, polished basalt, and stone brick stairs, this bay window features a circular or semi-circular “rose” window pattern made from intricate stained glass panes in shades of blue, red, and gold. The seating area beneath this massive window is expansive, spanning five or more blocks in width. Built from polished deepslate stairs topped with deep blue wool and carpet, the bench offers sweeping views of the world outside while being bathed in multi-colored sunlight filtering through the stained glass. Incorporate heavy iron chains holding glowing lanterns above, and line the sides of the alcove with tall bookshelf towers accessible via wooden ladders. This dramatic, imposing design creates a sanctuary within a sanctuary, perfect for quiet reflection, reading, or overseeing grand interior halls.
